SHAME IS A LIAR
By Kathy Wilson
Shame screams, “Unworthy,
And God thinks so, too!”
It determines life-choices
Be detrimental to you.
“You deserve nothing,
And nothing you are.
Do not seek forgiveness,
You’ve gone much too far!”
Shame keeps a secret
No one else should know.
It speaks lies against you,
And sees that you don’t grow.
Shrouded in darkness
Defeat does its best,
While depression moves in
Like an unwanted guest.
God’s message is different.
He brings truth to your case.
He loves you completely,
Delights in giving you grace.
His arms are just aching
To hold you so tight,
But you cling to your past
And continue to fight.
God desires your surrender,
To give mercy and peace.
He wants to clothe you in joy,
And your anguish to cease.
Release what’s familiar,
Abandon the shame,
Allow God to redeem you,
That’s why Jesus came.
Cherished one, IMAGINE
The future God can give.
His love would fill your hurting heart,
Cause renewed desire to live.
Love with no condition
Is calling out your name.
Take it without cost to you,
You’ll never be the same.
